Consultation has concluded
Leeton Shire Council’s DRAFT Community Participation Plan is on public exhibition from this Friday 29 November 2019 until Friday 17 January 2020.
The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) has introduced Community Participation Plans as a new requirement under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The new Community Participation Plan will detail how Council will engage the community in the planning process.
Development assessments are currently assessed on their merits for neighbour notification. Each application is assessed on overshadowing, distance from boundaries, type of use, building materials and possible negative externalities. Generally most residential development, such as single storey dwellings and additions are not currently advertised.
Council is also required by legislation to undertake broader public notification for a range of development. This requirement will not change.
The Community Participation Plan sets out how the community will be notified of proposed developments and the plan largely mirrors the current method in which Council notifies the community of development.
Feedback on the DRAFT Plan closes at 5pm on Friday 17 January 2020.
