Leeton Shire Council’s DRAFT Kerbside Collection Policy has been placed on public exhibition for 28 days, following endorsement at the February Ordinary Council Meeting.

The DRAFT Kerbside Collection Policy has been developed to establish a clear framework for effective waste collection and management of Council’s serviceable bin routes.

Acting Director Operations Luke Tedesco said, “The DRAFT Kerbside Collection Policy has been formulated to provide clarity about Council’s waste management services while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and the promotion of sustainable practices within the local government area.

“The new Policy is a valuable source of information for residents on the serviceable bin route, addressing the provision of additional bins, outlining the responsibilities of residents regarding bin ownership, placement, and reporting of missing or damaged bins, as well as specifying the areas covered on the kerbside collection route,” he said.

Cr George Weston, Portfolio Lead for Environmental Sustainability, said the Kerbside Collection Policy represents a significant step forward for Leeton Shire Council.

“With the introduction of the Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) service this year, this policy not only meets local requirements but also adheres to the 2030 mandates set by the NSW and Commonwealth Government,” he said.

The community are invited to give feedback until 5pm on Sunday, 31 March 2024.
