Consultation has concluded.

Leeton Shire Council’s DRAFT Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) is on final public exhibition until Wednesday 10 June, 2020.

Council’s draft Leeton Local Strategic Planning Statement was endorsed by Council at its May 2020 Ordinary Meeting and will be on final public exhibition from Wednesday 13 May until Wednesday 10 June 2020.

All Councils in NSW are required to prepare a Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) by 1 July 2020. The intent of the LSPS is to set out Council’s 20-year land use vision, the shared community values to be maintained and enhanced, how growth and change will be managed and the special characteristics which contribute to the community local identity.

Council has undertaken an extensive public consultation process on the draft plan. This included sessions with representatives from key industry groups, businesses and the community, pop-up information sessions and public meetings across the Shire.

The draft LSPS contains eight priority areas including Agriculture, Employment, Tourism, Retail, Housing, Community, Environment and Heritage and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and a total of 34 proposed land use planning actions that will be implemented over the short, medium or long-term to achieve the desired outcomes.

Some of the actions identified include undertaking a Rural Land Use Strategy, introducing a Development Control Plan, and co-operating with the Leeton Aboriginal Lands Council to undertake a Cultural Heritage Study.

Any feedback received from this final consultation period on the final draft will be considered by Council and tabled publically at Council's June Ordinary Council meeting for final determination.

Submissions must be received by Council by 5pm on Wednesday 10 June 2020.

Thank you in advance for being an active and engaged citizen of Leeton Shire.
