Consultation has concluded
At its May Ordinary Council Meeting, Leeton Shire Council endorsed the draft “Envisage 2024” Economic Development, Tourism & Events Strategic Plan which will now be on public exhibition from Friday 27th May until Friday 24th June.
The new DRAFT plan will see Council commit to delivering outcomes that will increase investment, visitation and projects that will drive population and jobs growth into the future.
Stakeholder feedback has helped to determine the six core themes of the strategic plan.
The six core themes include:
• Business Growth & Attraction
• Knowledge and Workforce Economy
• Liveability
• Enabling Infrastructure
• Environmentally Sustainable Economy
• Visitor Economy
We have attached a copy of the final DRAFT Plan in the "Document Library" on the side panel of this page for your review.
The DRAFT plan has undergone some consultation with key stakeholders already however if you would like to raise any further comments please feel free to do so using the guestbook tool below as this will be your last chance to provide feedback.
Feel free to read through the draft and then contribute your comments below!
Thank you for being an active and engaged citizen of Leeton Shire.
I think maybe a short, straight forward summary of the draft in the description on this page would be beneficial for people who don't want to or cant read the draft, helping them to be able to make an educated comment.
I think its a hard job to balance all the multifaceted needs and wants of the Leeton region but I would argue that our money and time should be spent where its most needed first. Which sounds simple in theory but needs to be simplified for practical application.
I think there are positives and negatives to living anywhere, but getting the residents opinions is the best way to improve the quality of this town. Keep this sort of thing up.
I haven't read the Draft, however, it good to see a proactive Council.
We could look at our current strengths and assets we already have in the area.
Education in Leeton has a huge presence in Leeton with so many schools and teachers and former facilities like the Murrumbidgee College. This is an industry that has contributed to Leeton's sustainabilty. The profile of education and the spin offs could be analysed. For a town the size of Leeton we have so many scools.
So much more can be gained by supporting and assisting groups ,the Easter Festivals and attracting more sporting and tourism events like the ballons.
Identifying businesses and groups in town that don't have a huge profile in town but contribute so much already like Riverina Workwear.
Attracting new business to town is great but so is enhancing and adding value is good too.
Also, more lighting around the walking and cycling tracks would be nice.
Thankyou
