Consultation has concluded

With the newly refurbished Leeton swimming pool complex set to open late January 2021, Councillors would like to invite the community to provide feedback on what to name the pool.

The original Leeton Memorial Swimming Baths were run by a Reserve Trust and transferred to the local Council in 1931. A very popular community asset, the baths were demolished and the new Leeton and District Memorial Swimming Pool built in 1962.

We now find ourselves in 2020 having completed another major upgrade and Council is keen to hear from the community as to what is should be named.

Our pool is a facility of regional significance. The pool hosts several swimming carnivals attracting students and visitors from across the state and is a key contributor to the local economy. In undertaking the $5M refurbishment, Council considers it important to continue to position the facility as the main carnival pool in the Western Riverina. The working title for the project has been the Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre.

Name options for consideration include Leeton Memorial Swimming Pool, Leeton Regional Aquatic Centre, Leeton Regional Swimming Centre, Leeton Regional Swimming Pool, Leeton Swimming Pool and Leeton Olympic Pool.

Please let us know your preference or suggested alternative name for the newly refurbished Leeton pool. Council will consider all responses when making its decision.

Feedback can be provided to Council in any of the following ways:

ELECTRONICALLY: Complete the short survey on this ‘Have Your Say’ online engagement portal. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the Council Administration Office and the Leeton Library.

BY EMAIL TO: council@leeton.nsw.gov.au

BY LETTER: Addressed to the General Manager, 23-25 Chelmsford Place, Leeton 2705.

Feedback must be received by Council by 10pm on Sunday 6 December 2020.
