Consultation has concluded
Leeton Shire Council endorsed its DRAFT Strategic Stormwater Management Plan to go on public exhibition from Friday 27th July until Friday 24th August 2018.
All Councils are required to have a current Strategic Stormwater Management Plan (SSMP) for urban areas to continue levying a Stormwater Management Service Charge (SMSC).
Since 2006 Council has levied a nominal Stormwater Management Service Charge of $25 per annum for an average residential property. This charge raises crucial funds which in conjunction with Council’s capital funding delivers vital stormwater projects in the urban area.
Stormwater management projects adopted for completion in the 2018/19 Financial Year include Waipukarau Park low flow drainage system, Whitton Township drainage modelling, design upgrade options for Almond Road trunk drain, design of major trunk drains in the urban area, construction of road crossings in the Wamoon township and inspection of older existing stormwater network. Mayor Cr Paul Maytom also successfully moved an additional project, being the completion of stormwater piping in Petersham Road, between Corbie Hill and Lillypilly Roads.

As a resident living near Waipukurau Park I am concerned about the loss of mature trees in the Park and around the suburb. These are important for property values, reducing dust and noise. Will the works proposed for the Park require the removal of trees? Will Council be replacing the trees that have already been lost? Might there be an option to improve the drainage capacity by developing the area between Caloro St and Wamoon Ave? This could make the entrance to Leeton more attractive too.

I believe it has to be done. For us amounts to $12 per quarter we have 1 residential and 1 business lot. While working on the Melaleuca Avenue crossings can the council put kerb and guttering on park side of Avenue, this will tidy up the avenue and eliminate a lot of puddling and pot holes.. As well as tidy up park precincts. What we must realize is that a lot of areas are very flat and getting fall for drainage does result in extra cost for piping and pump stations

This rating may be excessive in the case of unit buildings such as Teena Court with (I think) 12 units or Marina Court with 8 units and other similar residential complexes The blocks are the same size as a residential block, though more of the block is "covered" by roof area.
