Hello Leeton Shire – it’s time to focus on our future!
Leeton Shire has a bright future. As a community we know that achieving this takes a clear vision, strong leadership and dedicated commitment to see our aspirations delivered in full. The ‘Leeton on the Go’ – Our Community Strategic Plan 2030 was developed in 2016, after extensive consultation with residents across our Shire. Now it’s time to check in with you and update the community strategic plan to make sure the community’s plan for the future stays relevant and targets those areas that matter most.
What is the Community Strategic Plan?
The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is a whole of community plan and is owned by the community. Council’s role is to bring together community stakeholders to build and achieve a sustainable plan for the future of our community. It outlines where our community wants to be in 2035, how we will get there, who will be involved and how we will know we have arrived at our community’s vision. It aims to celebrate what we love about Leeton Shire, enhance what could be made even better, and create new opportunities that work towards our long-term vision.
Why does the CSP need updating?
The Community Strategic Plan is our focus for the future – but over time things can change, and new priorities can emerge. Therefore, we’re seeking your input to update the plan and describe what you want the Shire to be in a decade or so and how this can be achieved.

Together let’s create a long-term community vision that will see our region grow and develop into the next decade. This is the current CSP vision:
To enjoy outstanding lifestyles and prosperous livelihoods within a caring and inclusive community and a healthy environment.
To be inspirational leaders leaving a legacy in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area of which we are enormously proud.
We want to know if this still accurately reflects the community's vision for the future, and that's where you come in!

Attracting industry in to the area, either large or small, aim to increase shire population by at least 4-5 families per year.

Creating a vibrant community, that will encourage young adults to come to Leeton Shire and stay in Leeton Shire
Promotion and provision of activities for young adults, ranging from shows, concerts, sporting facilities, etc.

Appealing to young families and keeping them im town
It's great to see the museum running a kids exhibit and the library also tries hard with it's young programming, but outside of this and the playgrounds there isn't much for the littles. I would love some structured sport style learning for preschoolers. I would love to see younger services at the stadium like little kickers, ready steady go kids and Kindy gym programs. As well as summer long swimming lessons (both group and private). I don't believe living in the country should come with this many sacrifices and I would hate to see families leaving to move to larger centres (and I don't want to be one of them) to gain access to more facilities. Attracting and retaining families starts with young kids. If you have happy settled little ones you will likely stay until the kids finish school and by such time you often have soo many roots in town that you would hate to leave. By keeping families we keep so many aspects of the economy rolling. Ideally parents are employed, kids go to childcare and school (which employ many people), they participate in sports and leisure activities. Family members visit and celebrations are held at our cafes and restaurants. The list goes on and on and the cycle continues.

Add a lake or watr body close to CBD for recreation and place to eat etc.
